This 4-week virtual workshop series is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about yoga as it applies to daily life. New and experienced yoga practitioners are welcome. Week 1: Finding Balance: A Study on "Hatha" Yoga & Uniting Opposites Yoga is about balance. This workshop will explore the ways in which Hatha Yoga balances opposing forces in order to maintain equilibrium in the body and mind. Week 2: The Energy Body: Studying the Subtle Layers & "Chakras" In this workshop, you will develop your understanding of the different layers of the human experience and how each can be balanced through breath awareness, meditation, and postural practice. Week 3: Like Increases Like: Understanding the "Gunas" or Qualities of Nature By learning about the gunas, you will see how food, movement, environment, and habits affect your state of mind and understanding of the world. Learn how to regulate these three energetic forces to find balance and insight. Week 4: Understanding Your Constitution: An Introduction to "Ayurveda" Ayurveda is an ancient Indian science that views the five basic elements as a source of guidance, healing, and good health. By understanding your unique constitution, you will learn what throws you off balance as well as what brings you back in tune. Each workshop will be held online. You can expect short and interactive presentations, prompts for reflective journalling, and group discussions in the first hour of the workshop followed by an embodied yoga practice with meditation in the second hour.
